The Wedding Celebration at Kitere

Following our Civil Wedding ceremony at the Attorney General's Offices, we had a celebration at the Kitere Glory Community Church on the 29th November 2008. It was a blessing for Denise and I to reaffirm our marriage vows at the church in the presence of many of our friends, relatives, villagers, fellow Christian believers and students.

We had thought and planned the ceremony to be a very small occasion. Little did we know that once we had involved family members, the local church and some friends in the preparation and co-ordination, it was no longer in our power to control the magnitude of the occasion. The occasion was graced by a significant attendance, characterized by diversity in gender, age, faith, culture and ethnicity. All this variety added to the splendor of the occasion.

The ceremony also had features that embraced diversity: the program of the day included a blend of aspects of a typical wedding ceremony between Christians in Kenya as well as in the USA. It was truly colourful.

May God bless you all as you continue to rejoice with us for this union. Amen.
