We say good-bye to Tishona...

On Friday, August 3rd, Sister Tishona Smith's time in Kenya on this trip came to an end. Brother William Ochieng along with friends and family accompanied her to the airport as she tearfully departed. We will surely

miss her bright smile, witty sense of humour and especially her songs for every occasion!

Here Tishona is pictured with William and his two sisters Tabitha and Monica.

Friends Joanna Kelley and Denise Davenport will remember many days of fellowship, ministry and sharing the love of the Lord with Tishona.

About me

My name is William Aludo. Born on May 19, 1970 in Mombasa, Kenya, I spent my youthful years in Kitere Village near Rongo in the Southwestern part of Kenya. From Kanga High School, I attended the University of Nairobi where I graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting. I worked in the banking sector before moving to Johannesburg, South Africa where I accepted the Lordship of Jesus Christ over my life in 1999. I consequently answered the call to Christian ministry and went through training to be equipped for effective Christian service. In 2002, I obtained a Further Diploma in Christian Ministry as well as Certificate in Christian Counseling from Rhema Bible Training Centre (RBTC) in Randburg, South Africa. I am passionate about youth transformation and community development. After 5 years working with youth in rural Kenya, I appreciate the need for sustainable intervention methods alongside spiritual formation in addressing grassroots community needs. To equip myself with relevant skills, I took a sabbatical and I am currently studying MA in Sustainable Development at SIT Graduate Institute in Brattleboro, Vermont.

Mission history

In 2002, during his final year at RBTC, God gave William the vision of Students' Ministry. At first it was just a strong inner sense that there was a great opportunity for ministry in the learning institutions back in Kenya. It would involve preaching and Teaching the Word of God in the Christian Unions (CU's) and distributing gospel literature. Excited by this "revelation" of opportunity to share the transforming love of Christ, he documented this vision and forwarded it to the then Dean and Assistant Dean of RBTC for consideration and advice. At the time, William was not considering returning to Kenya, and so he did not think the vision was for him. He therefore suggested that the RBTC send somebody to Kenya to investigate the feasibility of this opportunity.
